AFH Summer Bash

"Artists For Humanity has empowered and employed Boston teens in an intensive program of arts, creativity and enterprise. AFH partners youth with professional artists/designers to design, create and sell art products. With fully equipped studios in seven artistic media, youth and mentors collaborate on creative projects, many commissioned by clients. In the process, young artists develop entrepreneurial skills, and introduce audiences to their voice, vision and virtuosity."-www.afhboston.com

Farewell Big Red & Shiny!

Alas, a sad day it is! Online artist resource and forum, Big Red & Shiny has announced it will be expiring its online Journal as of September 1.2010. Big Red & Shiny has been an invaluable resource for New England Artists over the last six years and will surely be missed. Don't fret just yet, the publication will be keeping its archives online for you to read and will still be publishing calls for artworks and exhibition listings. You can also still follow Big Red and Shiny on Twitter. To read more about the end of this beloved publication check out Publisher, Matt Nash's farewell: http://bit.ly/bgrdshiny

Former Fort Point Artists Show
27 artists from the past 35 years

Opening Reception
Thursday August 12th,
5-8pm

"When artists first began moving into the Fort Point Channel section of Boston they were true pioneers, showing the way for communities nationwide to rejuvenate old manufacturing properties for use as art studios and meccas. The Fort Point neighborhood with its warehouses and lofts, has been home to thousands of artists since approximately 1975. They left for a variety of reasons - from falling in love to displacement by development. Many of these trendsetters will return for this show Aug. 1- Sept. 17."-fort point blog
