Studio View with Lenore Tenenblatt

FPAC: Tell us about your studios and artwork.

LT: This is a studio view (featured above) of work that I put up for Open Studios 2010 that shows many of my freestanding sculpture, 4' to 7' tall and created from found materials, primarily from deteriorated bucket and barrel staves and metal surrounds. The artwork contain other materials and are often combined with wood burned marks. My studio itself is a homage to the original look of the area's industrial buildings with a centuries' worth of painted walls and ceilings left as found.
FPAC: Who or what inspires your work?

LT: Among other artists whose work I look at are El Anatsui, a Ghanaian sculptor who uses found materials such as bottle caps to create large wall hangings, or Rachel Harrison, a New York sculptor who uses diverse material in freestanding sculptures with cultural and political references.
FPAC: What can we see from you in the near future?

LT: Currently I am making some table top sculptures as well as the floor pieces. Also I spent time every summer making monoprints that you view at the Farnsworth store.
